Hi Everyone!

Today we have “Potential” by Jeeby Lyricist, the first single from his forthcoming EP. The track was mastered by Damitjon and produced by Shawn Smith. It has a Neo Soul feel to it, Jeeby poetically recites the lyrics over a hip-hop rhythm. He starts off with the line, “Have you ever been afraid of your potential?” and follows up urging you to chase your dreams. The verses are filled with motivation, pushing you to put your goals first, and ensure you protect yourself, mentally and emotionally.

In telling his own story, Jeeby provides his lyrics as a guide for us to do the same, and follow our dreams.

The artwork was done by Abigail Titus, @Tinysunthing on Instagram. Take a listen to “Potential” by Jeeby Lyricist, tell me what you think in the comments below.

Protoje’s “Bout Noon” Ain’t No Play Thing

This lovely February morning, we have a new single from Protoje, tilted “Bout Noon”. 2018 has started off with a continuation of the highly appreciated 2017 trend, persistent amazing music releases. I really think he should have dropped this song before Valentine’s Day ’cause it’s for you and your lover. It is to set the mood to lock weh for the night, and day too… ’til about noon.

The single was produced by Winta James and Lamont ‘Monty’ Savory; it was written by Protoje while on a flight heading home. He’s singing about how much he missed his lady, and some of the reasons why he loves her. I also have to take a moment to big up my artiste’s word play! As well as that sweet guitar riff that can be heard under the chorus, it is addictive. The song makes me want to hug up my bae and rock away, just like the visuals in the lyric video.

Bout Noon is just a taste of the Reggae star’s upcoming fourth studio album, and we’re eagerly awaiting what he will be bringing to the sound system this time around. The single art was created by Yannick Reid, and the music video was created by Ikem Smith. Watch the video for “Bout Noon” by Protoje below.

So settle pon it properly”

Hi Everyone!

On this Expression Wednesdays we’re sharing new music form Kapital Stone; last week he released “Way Out”, produced by Kung-Fu Beats. His voice is unique, I like it. Stone speaks about the obvious injustice Black people face, urging us to find a ‘Way Out’. The interesting artwork was done by the amazing Richard Nattoo, @DjSinista1 on Instagram. Take a listen to “Way Out”, and let me know if you like it, in the comments below.

Hi Everyone!

New music live! Right before 2017 ended Runkus released “my Gf.”. This song makes you want to move, many people claim they can’t dance but the easiest response to music is to move. When I heard my Gf. I was pleased, cause I love music that makes me want to dance. The drums! The percussion instruments in this song, they remind me of Afrobeats. This was produced by Krs.

Now, the lyrics… to be honest, I wouldn’t mind my man singing this song for me. “My gf do not come with nuh man problem…” let them know, hunny. Runkus sings about his lady, but he does so in the amazing lyrical fashion I look forward to when listening to his music. He ended 2017 with a great release, take a listen to my Gf. by Runkus.

Hi Everyone!

The year of good music continues right through; last week Friday, “Simma” by Leno Banton featuring iotosh was released. It was Produced by Krs with the featured photo by Monique Kidd (@Kimmmon) and the track artwork by Khari Kamau (@KhariKamau). To put it simply, the duo criticize the girl that left the relationship to pursue another, with more money; all with a sweet lyrical flow to match the riddim. Ensure you keep a keen ear on the lyrics; take a listen to “Simma”.

“Maybe I’m no king and I got no riches
So I can’t buy you things
But I got love to give
But that’s not enough for you”

-Leno Banton

“I really wish you all the best in life
I really wish that I coulda provide
The lifestyle that you always wanted to live
But the truth is, all I got is love to give”

Hi Everyone!

I have brand new reggae music for you! Today I’m sharing “Lightning Storm” by 5 Star! The first thing that grabbed me was that bassline, the groove is so nice; the rhythm has an original rockas reggae feel to it. On this smooth riddim 5 Star raps animatedly, warning Babylon to be stable before they run into trouble or the lightning storm. His lyrics have a strong militancy, as he pushes to defend himself with protection from Haile Selassie I. Take a listen to Lightning Storm by 5 Star, produced by Kabaka Pyramid and Genius.

Hi Everyone!

Today I have “Conversation & Weed” by Vanessa Bongo, produced by the DrumKeys. I have been waiting for this song, I first heard a taste of it at Love, Light & Fire. The official song has a different feel to it, I like it. I’m not gonna lie, this song sounds like some great music to set the mood for some alone time with your partner. Vanessa has a sultry sounding voice as she speaks to her man, “so I’m waiting for you, cause my body is a temple…”. The lyrics, along with the instrumental, lovely. I have to give a shout out to the background vocalists, the variation was on point. Take a listen to “Conversation & Weed.”

Hi Everyone!

This project has been out for a while but better late than never. Keznamdi released Skyline Levels vol 1 earlier this year, and I’ve brought it here for you to hear. It’s lovely, the vibe it gives off is when you wake up early on a Saturday morning, burst open your windows to see perfect weather, so you decide to start washing or cleaning. After deciding to clean, you’d put on this EP. The songs compliment each other, you need not skip any, just let it play out, enjoying all of them.

I can’t even pick a fave off the project, but if I was forced to, I think I’d pick “So Right”. Take a listen to Skyline Levels vol 1; comment below your favourite song.

Hi Everyone!

Come here please, take a look at the newest track to touch the street. 17-year old, Koffee, introduced herself to the world with a catchy reggae song. “Burning” was released the beginning of October. Don’t sleep on this song y’all, after listening to it twice I found myself humming it. She is out to give inspiration as she follows her dreams.

“Nothing can’t out my flame, no it can’t quench, can’t cool, can’t tame”

I love the message, and I love her voice. She encourages us to keep passionate, and keep our flame burning brightly. Koffee isn’t the usual, watch out for her, and take a listen to Burning.
